BY TRAIN
FERROVIE DELLO STATO (State railways)
Milan’s Stazione Centrale is the terminus for international and high-speed trains. It can easily be reached by subway from anywhere in the city as well as the new Rho-Pero complex. Take the green (MM2) or yellow line (MM3) to Stazione Centrale station.
Numerous regional trains are available at Stazione Garibaldi. Take the green subway line (MM2) to Garibaldi station. www.trenitalia.com
FERROVIE NORD Ferrovie Nord trains service the north of Milan. Trains leave from the station in Piazzale Cadorna, just a stone’s throw from Castello Sforzesco. Take the red (MM1) or green (MM2) subway lines to Cadorna-Triennale station. www.ferrovienord.it
CITY RAIL LINK
From April 2009 it is open the new railway station Rho-fieramilano. It's possible to reach Rho-Fiera from the nine city stations on the Passante line: Certosa, Villapizzone, Lancetti, Porta Garibaldi underground, Porta Venezia, Repubblica, Dateo, Porta Vittoria and Rogoredo.
The Passante Line crosses Milan from northwest to southeast, connecting the Ferrovie dello Stato and Ferrovie Nord rail systems and local public transport services, including Milan’s three subway lines.

Milan has two international airports:
Linate (LIN) is located on the city’s eastern outskirts, just ten kilometers from the center. A shuttle service operates between Linate and Stazione Centrale (for information, phone +39 02 6690351). You can also reach downtown Milan by taking bus no. 73, which goes to Piazza San Babila, just a few minutes’ walk from Piazza Duomo. The trip takes around 30 minutes.
Malpensa (MXP) is located near Lake Maggiore, around 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the city center and close to the new exhibition complex. The Malpensa Express (approximately 45 minutes) runs between the airport and Piazzale Cadorna station (Ferrovie Nord), while the Malpensa Shuttle goes to Stazione Centrale. www.malpensaexpress.it www.malpensashuttle.it

Orio al Serio (BGY) is another international airport near Bergamo, some 60 kilometers (37 miles) from Milan. A bus service runs between the airport and Milan’s Stazione Centrale (for information, phone +61 035 318472).

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Tickets are not available on board and must be purchased first at newsstands or bars near stations and stops. Tickets are valid for 75 minutes without restrictions on all surface transport but can only be used for a single trip on the subway. The ticket cost for 2 travel in a day is of Euro 4,00. The ticket of 1 Euro is not valid.

PARKINGS
In the historical centre only ATM-managed fee-payment parking areas are authorized. The special "Scrape-and-Park" card, available at sale locations and from authorized staff, has to be dispayed on the vehicle.

It's a good idea to leave your car outside the city center and use public transport for getting around the city. Car parking facilities are available at the main subway stations.
